Over thirty boys staging an epic performance of brotherly love, lust, and aggression, dressed only in togas… that’s one hell of way to start a weekend. For those looking to brush up on their history, the Sacred Band of Thebes was an elite military squad of the ancient Theban army composed of paired male lovers who, because of their strong bonds to each other, were presumed to constitute an almost invincible force.
