24-year-old British photographer Hal Sear’s work is infused with an intense yet colorful melancholy that underlies his efforts to stage an appearance of longing and contemplation. Through his control of lighting and mood, Hal creates scenes that have a cinematic quality… perhaps not surprising considering he counts filmmakers Gus Van Sant and Gregg Araki among his influences. His work recently appeared on Dazed & Confused’s webzine Dazed Digital.
