Shame On You, McCain

StraightTalkExpress

The front page of Wednesday’s Times speaks of the most up-to-date struggles on the DODT hearings, in which top military officials, including Admiral Mike Mullen, support the inclusion of LGBT soldiers into legal and unfettered members of the Armed forces.

Unfortunately, on the defensive against changing policy was non other than Senator John McCain, the guy who failed to become president but helped elevate a witless moron to the position of America’s Most Powerful Idiot, and by this I mean Sarah Palin. But enough about Palin.

According to the Times, McCain feels that “…while the law was not perfect, its repeal was too much to ask of a military that is already under stress fighting two wars.”

This goes against previous statements he made, as the article describes. Maureen Dowd also put in her two cents, quoting McCain’s “I honor their sacrifice, and I honor them,” then quipping “Just as long as they deny their identity and pretend to be something they’re not.”

At one point I felt bad about McCain because I thought his social policies weren’t far off, but he was just politically misguided. Now I realize that he’s politically catatonic. Or just a big fucking idiot.

Mr. McCain, what the hell are you thinking? Do you really believe that changing the policies at this point will destabilize the army? Everyone else thinks it’s time to get rid of it, only the biggest douchebag conservatives anything negative about the whole thing. Suggesting that these gay and lesbian soldiers hide their identity for one more minute is an insult to our existences. Nobody can claim to be gay friendly and at the same time be opposed to a real of DODT. Not to mention marriage rights, but we’ll get to that later, Mr. President!
