How are you going to ring in 2010? With so many party options it’s easy for a young gentleman to fall back on the tried and true tuxedo. While it remains a classic there is no need for all the formalities. Try taking key elements of the suit and dressing them down by incorporating them into your own personal style.
1. Begin the New Year by putting your best face forward. The Art of Shaving Contemporary Shaving set is a great way to clean up last year’s unruly facial hair. A badger brush and hand-crafted razor in faux ivory takes the chore out of shaving. Perched on a nickel-plated stand the set is something you will not want to hide in your medicine cabinet.
2. A vintage bow tie, like the ones at Alter, dresses up any shirt. Try to veer away from the typical black and white colors. Look for ones with prints and fun colors; get creative here.
3. Everyone knows no look is complete without the proper footwear. A casual black shoe is a sleek alternative to the patent leather loafer. Create Recreation’s black Cesario high top with leather and metal hook detailing looks good with pretty much anything.
4. A black tuxedo jacket looks great with a pair of dress pants as well as a pair of jeans. Rag and Bone’s satin shawl collared jacket is an updated and modern take on the standard lapel style jacket. Every lad needs one of these; the look is timeless.
