Isabella Rossellini’s Green Porno

Sex lessons from one of the most beautiful women in the world. That’s the underlying premise of Isabella Rossellini’s Green Porno 2 series for Sundance Channel. For the uniformed (shame on you), Rossellini is a legend, Hollywood royalty. She’s the daughter of two icons: 3-time Oscar winner, Ingrid Bergman (Casablanca), and genius filmmaker, Roberto Rossellini (Paisà). If you recognize her face, it’s because Rossellini has appeared on over 500 magazine covers — including Vogue and Vanity Fair. She’s been photographed by Helmut Newton, Steven Meisel, Robert Mapplethorpe, Richard Avedon, and Bruce Weber.

I was first introduced to Rossellini in the 1992 film ‘Death Becomes Her.’ She plays Lisle von Rhoman — the woman who possesses the secret-lotion of agelessness. Obviously.

In that film, Rossellini’s says to an aging Madeline Ashton played by Meryl Streep, “Drink that potion, and you’ll never grow even one day older. Don’t drink it, and continue to watch yourself rot.”

I was 12–and instantly in love.

Rossellini’s 2008 short film series Green Porno (there’s nothing porno about it) uncovered the sex lives of insects. In Green Porno 2, Isabella Rossellini dives into the deep sea. The films are wonderfully short — tailor-made for the Youtube generation — and they explore the reproductive habits of marine animals in scientifically accurate yet extremely amusing ways. And with Rossellini’s to-die-for Italian/Swedish accent, Sex Education never sounded so good.
