In Memoriam | John Luke Smalley

picture-31

Last week  (May 17th) the photography world lost one of its talented comrades with the unexpected death of John Luke Smalley at the age of 53.  Trained originally in sports medicine, Smalley transitioned into the world of modeling and eventually into the arena of fine art photography where he publishing several books and was a contributor to The New York Times, Dazed & Confused, Another Man, Arena Homme Plus, and Vogue Hommes International.  His background in fitness was perhaps most clearly evident in his Gymnasium and Exercise at Home monographs where he created a whimsical world of adolescent machismo. 03 06 picture-30 14 15
