A new publisher, and a new book deal for the “slutacious” Dennis Cooper

Dennis Cooper Signs with Harper CollinsOne of the most well-known icons of outsider fiction, Dennis Cooper, has left indie press Grove/Atlantic and signed a three-book deal with one of the industries most commercial publishers, NewsCorp-owned Harper Perenial (an imprit of HarperCollins Publishers). But Cooper isn’t bitter about it:

Leaving his longtime publisher was something Mr. Cooper had been thinking about for a while anyway, and he has written frequently about his turbulent breakup with Grove on his blog.

“The thing is that the writing has been on the wall with Grove Press for a while now, so although I’m very sad about getting the heave-ho, it’s not a shock.”

Cooper has been snaged up by 24-year-old editor Michael Signorelli (Ed. Note: I must find this Michael). This move allows Dennis to publish his “highly anticipated” short story collection, Ugly Men. Not sure, I’m excited about the title, but I gaurattee the cover art will be sexy-licious. Read more about Dennis on his blog.
